The 2025 Hyundai Kona introduces minor updates just a year after the debut of its second generation

Following significant updates for the second-generation Hyundai Kona, which highlighted the electric model, Hyundai has introduced minor revisions for the 2025 versions of both the gas and electric models.

For the gas-powered Kona, two new trims have been added. The SEL trim now includes the Convenience Package as a standard option, and a new N Line S trim has been introduced, positioned below the N Line. The N Line S offers N Line styling but with fewer features, such as the 12.3-inch digital cluster from the Convenience Package, while lacking radar-based smart cruise control and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The full Kona N Line remains the only trim with a power moonroof and an eight-speaker Bose audio system. Additionally, the N Line S and N Line now feature 64-color ambient lighting, previously exclusive to the top Limited trim.

Performance remains unchanged from 2024, with the SE and both SEL trims equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. The N Line, N Line S, and Limited trims use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine generating 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All trims come standard with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available for an additional $1,500.

Pricing for the 2025 gas-powered Kona, including the $1,395 destination charge and changes from 2024, is as follows:

SE: $25,745 (up $310) SEL: $27,095 (up $310) SEL Convenience: $29,295 (new trim) N Line S: $30,745 (new trim) N Line: $32,295 (up $310) Limited: $33,295 (up $310) On the electric side, the 2025 Kona Electric introduces an N Line trim featuring black mirror caps, black window surrounds, more aggressive bumpers, and black 19-inch wheels. The interior includes sport seats in faux leather and suede, metal pedals, and dark chrome and red trim. The Limited trim now shares more features with the rest of the lineup, including 64-color ambient lighting for the N Line and LED interior lighting for the N Line and SEL trims. All trims now come with vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, allowing the electric Kona to provide power to a home if needed.

Pricing for the 2025 Kona Electric, after the $1,395 destination charge and changes from 2024, is as follows:

SE: $34,270 (up $160) SEL: $38,270 (up $160) N Line: $39,670 (new trim) Limited: $42,445 (up $65) The Kona Electric continues with two powertrain options. The entry-level SE features a 48.6-kWh battery pack with a front-axle motor producing 133 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque, offering a range of up to 200 miles. Higher trims come with a 64.8-kWh battery pack and a front-axle motor delivering 201 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. With 17-inch wheels, the estimated range is 261 miles; with 19-inch wheels on the N Line, the range decreases to 230 miles.
