Track enthusiasts considering the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing might want to wait until early 2025 before purchasing this sedan. That's when Cadillac will introduce the new Precision Package, tailored for this V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive car that boasts 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, and comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission. The package enhances the suspension with a larger front stabilizer, new bushings, and firmer spring rates. The front end gets new steering knuckles and the rear new toe links, allowing for more aggressive wheel alignment. Engineers have also recalibrated the steering, Magnetic Ride Control dampers, stability control, and electronic limited-slip differential.
Car & Driver provided additional details after test-driving the upgraded model at Virginia International Raceway. The front spring rates are 70% stiffer and the rear 60% stiffer, with a rear cradle bushing that's 1,000% stiffer. The new alignment options permit up to 2.8 degrees of negative camber in the front (0.4 more than stock) and two degrees in the rear (0.5 more than stock). Tire options include the standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and an upgrade to Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R, which are 10 millimeters wider.
The goal was to enhance steering precision, stability on corner exits, and road feel, while maintaining the sedan's ride quality. According to Car & Driver, the mission was accomplished.
While GM has not yet announced the price for the Precision Package, the 2025 CT5-V Blackwing starts at $96,990. Note that the Precision Package requires the carbon ceramic brakes with cross-drilled rotors option, which adds $9,000 to the price.
Cadillac's chief engineer mentioned that this vehicle is built to set records on challenging tracks worldwide and to delight the most discerning driving enthusiasts. The 2025 CT5 is already in production, with customer units of this specification expected to be available early next year.
